Leave With One Task Running: A Free Claude Workshop for Folsom Small Businesses Bring your laptop and one real task. Friday, Nov 20 in Folsom.
Orbital Beam is running a free, hands-on Claude workshop for small business owners at Granite City Workspaces in Folsom on Friday, Nov 20. Here's why it's worth your lunch hour.
Most small business owners I talk to around Folsom have tried an AI chatbot. Fewer have gotten it to do actual work inside their business. That gap is exactly what a free workshop coming to Granite City Workspaces is built to close.
The Claude SMB Workshop is on Friday, November 20, 2026, hosted by Orbital Beam, an Approved Claude SMB Trainer organization, with Granite City Workspaces as the local partner. It's free, it's hands-on, and the goal is simple: you walk out with one real task running.
Why I'm telling you about this
I spend my days building AI agent workflows for real businesses, and in October I co-presented "Building Grok Bots for Real Business Workflows" at Sac Tech Week, right down the hall at The Nook in Granite City. The biggest lesson from that room: people don't need another demo. They need someone to sit next to them while they wire AI into the tools they already pay for.
That's what this workshop does. I'm not hosting it and I'm not affiliated with Orbital Beam. I just think it's one of the most practical things happening for local owners this fall.
What you'll actually do
The session focuses on connecting Claude to tools you already use, like QuickBooks, Shopify, Gusto, and more. Then you put it to work on real workflows, such as:
- Answering leads so new inquiries don't sit overnight
- Turning a voice memo into a priced proposal
- Closing the books with less end-of-month grind
- A Monday brief that pulls together your cash, leads, and priorities for the week
One detail I appreciate: Claude asks before it sends, posts, or pays. You stay in control of anything that leaves your business.
What you'll walk away with
- One real task running in your business, not a someday idea
- Practical AI fluency: what it does well, what to double-check, and where its limits are
- Help in the room while you set things up
- One free month of Claude Max for people who are new to it
The schedule
- 11:00 AM: Doors open, registration, tech setup, and coffee
- 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM: AI fluency training and hands-on workshop
- 12:30 PM: Wrap-up and networking
It fits in a long lunch, and the networking at the end is a great chance to meet other owners figuring out the same things you are.
What to bring
- Your laptop
- Your charger
- One real task you'd love to stop doing by hand
Pick the task before you show up. The more specific it is, the more you'll get out of the hour.
How to register
The workshop is free, but seats are limited and registration requires host approval. A few things to know:
- Register with the business email you want tied to Claude Max
- Each person registers individually, so if you're bringing a partner or team member, have them sign up too
- The exact location in Folsom is shared after you register
If you're running a business in the Folsom and Sacramento area and you've been meaning to figure out AI, this is the easy on-ramp. Bring one task, leave with it running. See you there.
